The commitment I made to my 22-year old self was seemingly simple and straightforward: "If happiness alludes me, I will seek happiness elsewhere". That promise has been kept via the creation of 6 businesses and the pursuit of opportunities which, at their respective times, provided me with enjoyment, meaning, and a sense of purpose. My single "paycheck for security" moment - Mom and Dad’s love in action for college-aged kids - led to a 7-year, life-changing international experience. Phenomenal personal and business growth was gleaned as we learned to navigate constant change, e.g., 3 Global CEOs, 3 N. Amer. CEOs, 2 HQ re-locations, supply chain issues, evolving go-to-market strategies, etc., AND we still realized stakeholder-thrilling 10x revenue growth. In my life, I have chosen to leave 5 well-compensated positions – 2 of my own creation - to pursue happiness. I never had a paycheck to fall back onto, yet I have always been steeled by hope, creativity, and grit. This wanderlust - and a well-honed leadership skill set - allowed me to add value as a key employee in 5 fields of business as Director of Sales/Multi-unit Operator/VP Ops/Director of Acquisitions/Owner-Founder-President. I am proud to have created/co-created/led 6 award-winning businesses, served on leadership teams and a board of industry leaders. A friend identified me as a multi-potentialite which helped me to reframe the self-derisive "jack of all trades, master of none" label. The better realization: I have garnered the 10,000 hours to achieve expertise in several areas. Thirty years ago, I made a vow to my wife:"I am committed to challenging myself to continual self-improvement". The roller coaster of life notwithstanding…so far, so good! Along this incredible journey, I have come to realize what life expects of me - to help others transform,... personally and professionally. This revelation inspired me to attain 4 internationally accredited certifications: applied positive psychology, positive psychology coaching, and whole-being/happiness studies. Currently, serving my combined skill set forward. Re-Invention and pursuit of happiness as a foundation for coaching?
