Dr Kelvin Chan is a globally experienced healthcare investor-operator with 10+ years of experience in business and academia, focusing on Zero-to-One. He is currently Director of Business Development at Kudo Biotechnology, a mRNA CDMO, where he was involved in its launch. He is an advisor to HeHealth, Suji, and Kinotek. Kelvin is also a founding steering committee member at Pink Lions, a group in Singapore for LGBTQ+ professionals in healthcare, biopharma & life sciences.Previously, Kelvin was Director of Business Development at ABio-X, a biotech incubator set up by CBC Group, and at RVAC Medicines. Prior to that role, he was an operator of several portfolio companies within Tavistock. Prior to that, he served as a cross-border venture capital investor with EDBI, the strategic investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board, where he evaluated and invested in new healthcare opportunities. Additionally, as part of EDBI’s Value Creation team, Kelvin additionally managed relationships with industry and government strategic partners to bridge portfolio companies, and was Board observer at Biofourmis, Eko.ai, ConnexionsAsia, among others. Kelvin initially trained as a drug discovery scientist. He received his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Scripps Research, where he discovered new methods to make drugs, and published in top journals with 2500+ citations. He conducted his postdoc at the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium developing novel pre-clinical radiopharmaceuticals. He graduated with First Class Honors and top three of his Class at the University of Cambridge, receiving a BA(Hons) in Chemistry. Kelvin is a recipient of the prestigious National Science Scholarship, winning a full sponsorship for both his BSc and PhD from Singapore’s lead research agency, A*STAR.Kelvin is a mentor at LeAD Academy Lake Nona, as well as StartOut, a non-profit supporting LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs.
