I am very excited to be part of the team here at RHA Energy Partners. As a Hawaii-based energy service company, I am focused on leading the overall efforts in working with our public and private sector Clients in identifying, evaluating, and implementing comprehensive energy related programs, projects and solutions leveraging technologies ranging from traditional energy efficiency (lighting, HVAC, controls), to on-site renewable energy, or to more innovative solutions.As part of our Clients' team, my role is part consultant, part owner-rep providing trusted and unbiased leadership and support. Backed by the RHA Energy Partners team, we provide a full suite of professional services including engineering design, planning and permitting, procurement, financial analysis, project financing, project management, and construction management services.In providing such turn-key services and support, it is truly gratifying being able to experience with our Clients the evolution and success of the programs and solutions implemented with them, from initial concept all the way through implementation.

While with OpTerra Energy Services, I led and supported in the business development, sales pursuits and capture of new business opportunities for the Hawaii region. I worked in various public and private sectors to identify new clients and opportunities. I also led and supported in the development of pursuit strategies, proposal development, but most importantly in building winning client relationships. Upon successfully gaining new project awards, I also provided program management and helped transition projects from pursuit to implementation. I am most proud of the work we achieved with the State of Hawaii's Dept. of Education's "Ka Hei" sustainability program, a truly transformational endeavor. Chevron Energy Solutions was acquired by OpTerra Energy Services in 2014. My responsibilities with Chevron Energy Services were much the same as with OpTerra Energy Services. My time with Chevron Energy Services was quite interesting in the sense that while we were part of Chevron Corporation, a major global energy company, our mission at Chevron Energy Solutions was quite forward-looking pushing the envelope of implementing commercially-viable renewable energy solutions for our public and private sector clients. Our work broke the mold of the typical stigma sometimes associated with "big oil". I am proud of the work we pioneered during this time, such as with "net-zero" facilities, which helped move the industry forward.

My time with the Chelsea Group was very exciting. As a pioneering building science and sustainability consulting firm during the "early" sustainability days, we did a lot to bring sustainability practices into mainstream facility management practices and business planning with our clients. I was responsible for leading all day-to-day operations for the Hawaii and Pacific region, including P&L, business development, project management and implementation. I helped increase our market penetration into commercial office real estate, university, hospital, and federal government sectors providing consulting and technical services focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality and overall building science related issues. Our clients included the Queen's Medical Center, the Federal Government (GSA, Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse), BYU Hawaii, Chaminade University, PMRG, CBRE, and a host of other commercial real estate clients.Two projects I am most proud of is the work we did for the GSA with their desired renovation plans for the Prince Jonah Kalanianaole Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse. I led the project team's sustainability initiatives in support of the overall project team in the "greening" of the PJKK and U.S. Courthouse. The other project was leading the efforts in obtaining the LEED Silver certification of the Ali'i Place Building, which, at the time, was the first Class-A high-rise building in Hawaii to obtain a coveted LEED EB certification.

I led a number of initiatives while with Hawaiian Electric Company, with most all of them involving direct support of our largest commercial customers including the State of Hawaii and the Dept. of Defense in the improvement of their business and operations.As a Commercial Demand Response Program Manager, I was responsible for all aspects of the utility’s commercial and industrial demand response program, including marketing, sales, and technical systems. I provided leadership and direction to our sales team, which resulted in exceeding our program goals for commercial customer subscription and enrollment. I also gained valuable experience in the regulatory side of the business by helping prepare our biannual reports for the Public Utility Commission, including providing testimony to PUC in support of the program.As a Commercial Account Manager, I effectively managed, maintained, and built solid customer relationships with key HECO commercial accounts. I was responsible for managing various aspects of customer-related issues including technical, political, and financial. For most of our customers, energy costs was often their second largest operating expense (next to their labor expenses). I was able to successfully team with various intra-company and external resources in providing value-added solutions to our customers, helping these customers improve their bottom-line and overall business operations.

As my "first" career job after graduating from college, my experience with International Paper was invaluable. As a young project engineer and production supervisor, I was given leadership responsibility and thrust into a multitude of demanding technical, manufacturing, financial, and managerial roles. I was responsible for supervising process improvements and maintenance improvements of all departmental equipment to ensure "zero" machine downtime and product quality standards were met. I successfully managed a $1.3M maintenance budget and led the duties of 35 department personnel and coordinated efforts of production, maintenance and contractor personnel. Most rewarding was working with the many talented professionals and tradesmen and to help shape and work in dynamic teams. It provided tremendous learning opportunities in understanding the differences in people and how to harness the best of each for the advancement of the team.
