Being the technical engineering manager, lead 24 engineers for whom can be divided into two engineering teams. One is the FAE team consisting of 14 engineers, and the other is the R&D team consisting of 10 engineers who can be separated by expertise into ME, EE, Robot, and Vision sub-groups. Team members are from Vietnam, Taiwan, and Indonesia, and the common communicating language is English. The objective is to bring advanced and modernized technologies into shoe manufacturing by sophisticated automation integration with fully functional tests to save labor costs and improve manufacturing efficiency and quality. Challenges happen every day in a dynamic environment. For the management side, to lead and monitor the ongoing projects to deliver on schedule with quality according to the timelines, deliverables, and expected results. Simultaneously to elevate the engineering skills for all the members through proper educational plans. For the engineering side, evaluate the novel or innovative technology to determine if it can be applied. Walkthrough members proposed engineering methods or designs and solve their engineering problems or give them an appropriate guide or instructions. Moreover, to provide the departmental technology road map to meet the company's vision and expectations and to take into account the investors and stakeholders' interests. My leading style is rational, trustful and communication focused, but sometimes if the situation needs, it can be harsh, too. Plus my automation expertise, I quickly earn the respects from my members. The team is right now in high morale and ready to face any engineering challenges. Achievements•On behalf of the school, lead the team participating in the Seoul International Invention Fair 2017, and was responsible for the English introduction of the invention works. Eventually, 9 works were awarded 3 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medals, plus a special prize from the organizer. The winning rate is as high as 89%, which became the highest record in school history.•Select and recommended the student Wen, Ya-Hsuan from those outstanding students of the department, and wrote a sincere recommendation paper to help her won the 2018 Presidential Education Award.•Planned and held two large-scale national competitions for high school students, each competition exceeded the number of 200 participants.•Acquired cooperative memos from 4 large corporations by negotiating the internships, vocational classes, student visiting, and R&D items.•Re-arrange the departmental resources to expand the enrollments area twice as large as the original.Management•Established the S.O.P. of high-school visiting and unified the contents of introduction to efficiently convey the departmental teaching facilities, curriculum planning, and educational philosophy.•Improved the working atmosphere of the department, increased the cohesion of faculty.•Clearly defined the short/medium/long-term objectives, and the management style was moderate and systematic which was often affirmed by the superiors.Strategic Moves•Planned, wrote and implemented the special vocational class from the approval of the Ministry of Education.•Revised the original Industry 4.0 technical development program of the department, and appended the cloud-based monitoring and control technology into it.•Constructed a new partnership with 8 prestige high schools at different counties by working together for governmental projects.•Built deeper friendship with the neighboring high school teachers by establishing some specific courses to solve their study hour problem required by the government.

Achievements•Acquired 13 patents including 1 invention patent and 12 utility model patents.•Published 10 journal papers, in which 7 were of class A journals. (SCI)•Published 30 conference papers, in which 10 were of class A conference.•Acquired 8 individual research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with a total subsidy of more than 3.5 million NT dollars.•Invited to the NCKU team to help to solve the control design problem of laser motion and focusing compensation of a laser metal deposition rapid prototyping machine in the implementation of the large scale R&D project with Tongtai Machine & Tool enterprise.•Planned and wrote a large-scale SBIR project in the amount of total 8 million NT dollars for Dong-Shiuan Enterprise by developing technology on automation of entire production line machines with cloud-based monitoring and control structure.•Carried out 5 cases of industrial consulting, 2 academic caring and counseling programs, and 5 industry-academic projects of Ministry of Science and Technology.•Carried out 17+ personal research projects in various search topics.•Long-term responsible for the departmental internship programs, skilled at negotiation and coordination between companies and the department, managed and handled up to 40 internships every year. The internship was highly praised, which eventually became an important feature of the department.•Instructed 6 postgraduate students to finish their master's degrees.•Kept the teaching evaluation scores in the top 5 of the department faculty every year.
