As part of GOSA's Research, Evaluation, and Accountability team, it is my responsibility to ensure that agency leadership and the State Board of Education have a full picture of Strategic Waiver School System (SWSS) school performance for the state. To that end, my duties include playing a critical role in the evaluation of schools in SWSS; and communicating with schools that are not meeting performance targets to understand and report on actions taken to improve performance.

Georgia

As a Language and Literacy Specialist for the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, I provide intensive support to schools focusing on K-3 literacy through the Reading Mentor Program grant. Duties and responsibilities include: providing coaching support to teachers and administrators through face-to-face and virtual coaching platforms; designing and facilitating professional learning for teachers and administrators; co-teaching and modeling highly effective and research-based instructional strategies; and extensive data collection and analysis using DIBELS Next. My responsibilities also include monitoring progress towards targeted literacy goals at the district, school, grade, class, and student level and communicating instructional goals at the school, district and state level. Additionally, I serve as a thought partner to administrators and district leaders, and support individuals and schools in improving overall student achievement.

Conducted action research to identify skill and knowledge benchmarks for effective technology alignment with standards-based curriculum. Collected and analyzed student performance data to identify target skills and content which needed instructional support. Designed and developed intervention programs utilizing problem-based learning, technology integration, and collaborative learning activities. Provided technology integration training to educators in the school system based on adult learning theories and learner needs. General and inclusion education classroom teacher whose duties and responsibilities included: student and classroom management; instructional design, planning, development, and presentation; data collection and analysis; provided daily communication to parents and students via classroom website; teacher mentoring; co-teaching with special education staff for inclusion students; file and record management; resource development; participation in professional development and training; assessment and grading; monitoring and tracking individual student progress for 60+ students throughout instructional year; curriculum design and planning; collaboration with team members on instructional unit development, assessment tools, and data analysis.In addition to classroom teaching responsibilities, I also served on several committees in the school and in the school district: Teacher Advisory Council, Technology Leadership Forum, Math Curriculum Development Team, and the School Advisory Council. I was also selected to participate as a 21st Century Classroom Teacher during the initial implementation phase for the district.

Collaborated with corporate leadership to complete needs analysis for internal training program. Worked with regional managers to identify gaps in existing training materials, outline required skills and performance objectives, and determined the most effective and appropriate modalities for training materials (face-to-face, paper-based, web-based, and elearning). Using ADDIE, designed, developed, and created interactive training modules based on adult learning theories for sales consultants and managers, including assessment tools and manager feedback documentation.

Nickajack Elementary

General education classroom teacher, filling a limited contract position. Duties and responsibilities included classroom management; differentiated lesson planning; formative and summative student assessment; collecting and analyzing individual performance data using the Basic Literacy Test; communicating with parents; collaborating with team members to build curricular units; developing yearly curriculum map; maintaining student records and documentation (SST, IEP); and creating classroom resources aligning with the curriculum.

Dunleith Elementary

General education teacher. Duties and responsibilities included: classroom management; lesson planning; material and resource development; student assessment; collecting and analyzing student performance data using the Kindergarten Skills Assessment; Chair, Student Support Team, responsible for maintaining all student SST folders, documentation, and scheduling of meetings; communicating with parents; collaborating with team members to develop curricular units; and attending and professional development workshops.

Redbud Elementary

General education and inclusion teacher for elementary. Duties and responsibilities included: classroom management; lesson planning; co-teaching with Speech Language Pathologist; coordinating with special education teachers (EBD, LD, and Hearing Impaired) to incorporate student IEP goals and objectives into general classroom curriculum; designing an instructional model to accommodate multiple learning challenges within one classroom; creating language-enriched activities and experiences for all students; collecting and analyzing student performance data, for purposes of annual IEP review and individual skills assessments; proctoring required state assessments; communicating with parents; collaborating with team to design curriculum resources and materials; and providing academic support to struggling students.Additionally, served on the LSAC committee for school accreditation.
