I have been with IMA’s Employee Benefits division since 2004 in Marketing, Client Service, Operations, and now as the Compliance practice lead. As new laws and regulatory guidance are issued, I actually read the rules (lovely bedtime reading on my Nook), summarize the relevant content for our associates and clients (often condensing over 100 pages of regulatory jargon into a few comprehensible, coherent paragraphs), and focus on practical application so employers feel comfortable with how to move forward (okay, not always comfortable, but generally understanding what’s expected). The primary focus since 2010 has been the labyrinth known as health care reform.I find developing spreadsheets and visual aids especially rewarding. One of my spreadsheets, our Play or Pay Analyzer, was even granted a U.S. copyright! I also enjoy researching compliance questions that arise, participating in client interactions to discuss their compliance challenges, and actively participating in regulatory conferences and online communities of like-minded professionals. In addition, I develop internal policies and procedures, review and assist with contracts and agreements, conduct internal audits, assist with training new associates, and provide technical assistance for our associates with spreadsheets, reports, presentations, web technologies, and technical writing.Of course, I'm also in constant pursuit of another designation in my spare time, just for the fun of it. I find the world of benefits compliance to be challenging, engaging, problem-solving, and always in need of clear, creative thinking and innovation.

Assist national IMA Benefits division with employee benefits research, developing tools (I love spreadsheets), reporting, training, auditing, and maintaining carrier relationships. That may all sound like boring insurance stuff to some (okay, to most), but I absolutely LOVE my job at IMA!!!
