About Kate (Kathy) Cronkite

After almost a quarter of a century in mental health advocacy, I returned to school for a Master's of Social Work (policy), so I could take my work to another level. In my education, I focused on geriatric issues, one of the pressing social and economic needs of the next 25 years. My semester abroad on Peace and Reconciliation in N. Ireland reminded me of my core passion, giving voice to the voiceless. Bringing forward constituent voices to be heard ("telling stories") is not only a necessary tool to combat ageism, but also takes on greater urgency when seen as a key human rights and reconciliation component. Throughout my professional life as an actress, a talk-show host and television features reporter, a writer and a mental health advocate, it is the power of stories that moves my work forward.
