How ALLiN is transforming early education with language learning and cognitive developmentAALiN is an early education technology startup that aims to improve the cognitive development of children through a proprietary language learning program. The program is based on the latest neuroscience research and uses interactive games and stories to stimulate the brain regions responsible for language acquisition and executive functions.As Strategy Director, I was responsible for the following:- AALiN partnered with China Development Research Foundation (CDRF), China's leading social impact foundation, to implement its education program as part of the "One Village One School" project. This project aims to provide quality education to rural children in poverty-stricken areas of China. AALiN's program has been deployed in over 100 schools across 10 provinces, reaching more than 10,000 children.- AALiN collaborated with Harvard Center of Developing Child, a renowned research center that studies the science of early childhood development. AALiN's program was evaluated by a team of experts from Harvard, who found that it significantly improved the language and cognitive skills of children who participated in it. The results were published in a peer-reviewed journal and received positive feedback from the academic community.- AALiN raised more than US$5M from leading family offices in Singapore, who recognized the potential and impact of AALiN's program. Blockchain Association Singapore (BAS) is a non-profit association with a mission to drive education, advocacy and adoption of blockchain across Government and industry. With the largest community of blockchain companies and experts in Singapore, we help our members to network, connect, build relationships and grow their presence across Asia.Sharing some of our recent achievements and initiatives that showcase our commitment to advancing the blockchain ecosystem in Singapore and beyond.- We successfully organised the largest pavilion at the Singapore Fintech Festival, featuring 30 blockchain companies and projects from Singapore and the region. The pavilion attracted over 10,000 visitors and generated more than 500 business leads for our exhibitors.- We initiated BAS Impact@Blockchain initiative to drive the adoption of blockchain in sustainability and create real impact across communities. As a consumer/retail sector specialist, I am responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities in this dynamic and competitive industry. Singapore and China have a long history of cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, education and culture. One of the latest examples of this partnership is the development of a world-class food processing zone in Jilin provinceThe food processing zone will cover an area of about 600 square kilometers and will feature advanced facilities for food processing, storage, distribution and research. It will also adopt stringent standards of food safety and hygiene, as well as implement measures to prevent and control animal diseases. The zone will be the largest disease-free area in China, which will benefit both local and foreign investors.As part of the feasibility study and initial strategic planning for the zone, I led a team of experts to conduct an in-depth analysis across China's agro-food value chain. We identified several target investment opportunities for Singaporean and Chinese companies, such as dairy products, meat products, fruits and vegetables, processed foods and food additives. We also proposed a roadmap for the development of the zone, including the establishment of a joint management committee, a regulatory framework, a talent development plan and a marketing strategy.The food processing zone is expected to bring significant benefits to both Singapore and China. It will create new business opportunities for food companies from both countries, as well as enhance their competitiveness and innovation in the global market. It will also contribute to food security and safety in both countries, as well as promote mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples.

As Principal at a leading consumer-focused private equity fund in ChinaI have always been passionate about the consumer industry in China, especially the retail sector. I believe that there are tremendous opportunities for growth and innovation in this space, as well as challenges and risks. My Journey as a Serial Entrepreneur in AsiaI have always been passionate about creating value and solving problems through technology. That's why I decided to become an entrepreneur and co-founded two internet start-ups in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the internet was still a new and exciting frontier in Asia.The first start-up was a pan-Asian B2C financial information service provider that aimed to empower individual investors with timely and relevant data and analysis. We secured funding from leading VC 3i and built a strong network of strategic alliances, business development and M&A partners across the region. We also survived the dot-com crash and managed to exit successfully.The second start-up was a leading B2B e-procurement company that leveraged on the power of the internet to streamline and optimize the procurement process for large enterprises. As the CEO, I developed strategic alliances with our US partner and orchestrated an M&A deal that resulted in a win-win outcome for both parties. We also raised over US$20M from reputable investors such as Keppel Corp and E-Millenium Fund of Deustche Bank.Both experiences taught me valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation and resilience.
