I was responsible for developing the technology proposal which was ultimately accepted by US CBP for inclusion in the EDL. Subsequent to that, I worked with both internal and external privacy experts, especially those in the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, to develop guidelines on the implementation of the EDL.Shortly after the success of the EDL proposal, I joined the GS1 Architecture Group, a group of about 30 individuals worldwide responsible for overseeing the technical and architectural aspects of all GS1 standards.One of the key initiatives I started in this role was the design and development of Gateway, a SAML 2.0 single sign-on solution for all of the services provided by GS1 Canada and its partners; and Key Directory, an implementation of the GS1 identification standards that manages the issuance of the GS1 Company Prefix and associated identification keys. -

Consultant And Direct Store Delivery Application ProviderFrito-Lay Jun 1998 - Jun 2012Plano, Texas, UsIn 1998, Dolphin Data Development Ltd. was approached to remediate Frito-Lay Canada's Direct Store Delivery (DSD) application for Y2K compliance. After evaluation of the existing application and supporting infrastructure, Dolphin and Frito-Lay determined that the better option was to rewrite the application on the existing handhelds and to redesign the supporting network infrastructure. As a result of this decision, Dolphin was able to deliver additional functionality above and beyond Y2K compliance and to develop a network infrastructure that reduced complexity, maintenance costs, and communication costs.Since the project's inception in 1998, I was responsible for all aspects of handheld application design and development and have been jointly responsible with Frito-Lay Canada personnel for the design of the network architecture required to support the handhelds. In 2006, Frito-Lay Canada approved migration of the application from the old DOS handhelds to a new Windows CE platform. I was responsible for design and development, which included not just the migration itself but also new features supported by the new platform: signature capture, graphical printing, and XML document archiving.I continued to provide support and new feature development until the application was replaced as part of a systems consolidation project with Frito-Lay US.Highlights:- Redesigned inventory management, leading to significantly reduced inventory shrinkage- Redesigned payment management, leading to significantly improved customer reconciliation processes- Optimized application functionality to align with user practice- During migration to Windows CE, optimized application performance to align with new hardware capabilities, leading to measurable improvements in user productivity -
