Graduate Student • Created a database of all references (explicit or implicit) to the consequences of the End of the Cold War in three major foreign policy journals between 1987-1993, with the object of demonstrating how the conversation about the consequences of the late-1980s was understood by experts. Developed a rigorous coding scheme for how to understand these references, and measured how they changed over this period.• Created a database of opinions expressed in the Congressional Record about the wisdom of NATO enlargement between 1991-2018. Developed a rigorous coding scheme for how to understand each opinion, and measured how they changed over time• Performed a linear regression analysis using STATA, and demonstrated that the effect of democracy on the likelihood of war instigation obtains if and only if countries have both (1) a restrained executive, and (2) wide voter suffrage. Resulted in a conference presentation paper.• Designed a survey experiment using AWS MechanicalTurk which measured whether a generalized dislike for Weapons of Mass Destruction or casualty aversion was a better predictor of public disdain for their use. • Was a research assistant on a project studying the effects of campaign donations on election outcomes at the school board level in Ohio; was responsible for collecting information from counties and creating a database on each candidate and their reported campaign spending

• Served as the primary research assistant on a project attempting to gauge the potential effectiveness of military intervention into humanitarian disasters. Collected information on approximately two dozen humanitarian crises in the 20th century, and using rigorous coding rules characterized each one on three different dimensions to estimate likelihood of success of a military intervention with minimal casualties.• Served as the head of the CPOST team on Afghanistan, overseeing a team of undergraduates performing data cleaning to ensure data quality, creating a higher quality database for use in academic and other research on suicide terrorism • Performed data analysis, finding correlations for later CPOST publications

• Worked as an English, Mathematics, and Writing tutor for students of varying educational levels (elementary school to high school); focus mostly on skills development, SATs/ACTs, and college applications • Piloted a month long, intensive summer course on novels including Jane Eyre and Slaughterhouse-Five; most students enrolled were English-language learners
