Oversaw manufacturing. Worked with leadership on board, investor and partner relations.◆ Cemented my reputation for team building/project management expertise by allocating talent of a small group, bolstered by a bevy of well-managed contractors, across a diverse range of major market initiatives. ◆ Partnered with Reebok to develop and bring through commercial launch the award-winning CHECKLIGHT under-helmet safety system to capture head impact data in contact sports. Worked with numerous other corporate and government partners, including successful grant writing for DARPA and U.S. Department of Energy awards.◆ Built laboratories, processes and control systems, designed new facilities. Put in place quality management system, controls and regulatory process, as well as hiring of medical director for pursuit of regulated medical business.

Reporting to CEO, I played a global strategic/product role on company’s core leadership team following Philips Electronics' acquisition of Color Kinetics, a developer of intelligent, dynamic LED lighting systems that transform architectural and entertainment environments -- including creation of Philips Lighting’s North American research center, new architecture market, innovation initiatives.◆ Won and led $2.2 million U.S. Department of Energy LED program as principal investigator; as well as contract and leadership of National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) project that developed a new class of full-spectrum lighting system for advanced research.◆ Developed fast-track effort in response to U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) $10 million L-Prize offer for most efficient lamp product. Working closely with two other groups within Philips we submitted the winning entry and, after extensive testing by the DoE, Philips Color Kinetics won the prize in 2011.◆ Worked closely with Philips’ Washington D.C. government affairs office on legislative activities, government affairs and industry issues. Met frequently with U.S. senators, representatives and their staff.

I provided technical leadership in new product development for rapidly evolving automation of semiconductor manufacturing. I designed systems, consulted across the company on robotics and power systems. Played a key role in development of a novel Class 1 vertical lift system. Led new technology acquisition initiatives.

I served in several positions at Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute, including Scientist and Senior Research Engineer. Developed and managed many technical programs developing mobile robotics systems, driverless vehicles and walking machines for NASA and other sponsors. Also led the development and execution of applications projects for a course within CMU's business school. I supervised student research projects, taught courses and lectured, in addition to providing review activities for conferences and chairing sessions.I was an integral part of the strategic team that established and guided CMU's Field Robotics Center vision and future work. Through that activity, I gained significant experience and responsibility in the identification of project work, proposal writing, personnel and project organization, design, documentation, and reporting.

I initiated a start-up company to commercialize university-developed technology in medical robotics, on hiatus from doctoral work. Developed expertise in technology transfer, business formation challenges.
