A 40-year Alaska resident, Kathy Day, APR, has more than 35 years of public relations consulting experience in the Alaska market. For the last 24 years, Kathy has owned and operated her own PR agency, KD/PR Virtual, specializing in media relations, media training, crisis communications, social media, E-mail marketing, video and graphic design. Kathy also is a former radio news director (Homer, AK) and television reporter and anchor (Anchorage). For seven years, Kathy was the Content Coordinator for two Anchorage neighborhood magazines for Best Version Media.Kathy has been Accredited in Public Relations (APR) through the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) since 1997.Kathy is a former member of Anchorage Downtown Rotary (2011-2023) and was inducted into the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Athena Society in 2014. She received "Top 40 Under 40"​ recognition and is a graduate of Leadership Anchorage. Kathy is a Past President of PRSA's Alaska Chapter. She is VP of Anchorage Pickleball Club and is a huge supporter of BIg Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska.Specialties: My personal specialties are writing and editing, media training, media relations, public relations strategy/planning, crisis communications and client counsel. I enjoy speaking about public relations and small business topics. "One of my passions is mentoring. I have been a Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska to three girls and was named Alaska Big Sister of the Year for 2015. I have mentored numerous women who were entering the PR field or starting their own businesses."Outside of work, I love all sports -- especially pickleball, hockey, fishing, kayaking, hiking, swimming and skiing. I love to travel-especially to warm climates. My husband, Eric Havelock, recently retired after a 31-year career in mortgage financing at Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC). Together, we have four great adult kids who are succeeding at life!
