The SSFL site clean-up is an incredibly complex remediation project of a former NASA rocket motor applied research and development laboratory for the United States space program from 1949 to 2006. A part of the SSFL site was also used by the U.S. Department of Energy as the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC). This center was responsible for research related to civilian nuclear power as well as research and testing of non-nuclear components related to liquid metals.Prepared and approved scopes of work, budget estimates, and schedules; evaluate remedial alternatives; manage the preparation of regulatory documents (RI/FS, CMS, soils investigation, etc.); managed contractors and budgets. Worked extensively with a host of Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies including the U.S. EPA, the State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, the Counties of Ventura and Los Angeles and a host of local city governments and other stakeholders.
