About Kelly Dueck

Through my own experience working and living overseas as well as supporting immigrants and refugees who are new to Canada themselves I have developed a keen interest in inclusion in the workplace. I am passionate about furthering work and knowledge in the EDI space, I bring a diverse range of knowledge, skills and experiences gained through local and international work, education and life experience!I hold a Masters of Art (cross-disciplinary; Business, Education and Social Work) with a thesis focusing on immigrant recruitment & retention in the workplace. In my professional practice I have researched, developed, and implemented various EDI initiatives, including diversity trainings; educating and holding space for the tough conversations that need to happen. I worked to ensure initiatives implemented and programs and policies developed could be maintained as part of ongoing organizational culture. I have worked with external partners to build relationships and work collaboratively on addressing EDI. Most recently I've been able to utilize my experience and education by consulting here in Calgary. I also recently completed CCDI's "Foundations in Diversity" and "Anti-Racism" certificates, the University of Albertas "Indigenous Canada" course as well as the "Diversity and Inclusion" certificate program at Cornell University. I have supported immigrants and refugees in Calgary with their settlement and integration.I've had the opportunity to live and travel to various locations around the world including Africa, Central America, Cambodia and the Middle East. During my time overseas, I was fortunate enough to work with both locals and ex-pats. I truly love connecting with others and believe that we all share more commonalities than differences and that both are commonalities and our differences bring great value and an opportunity for us to be more successful together!I believe that Diversity & Inclusion shouldn't simply be a statement in an organization but something continually pursued and woven into its fabric. I am passionate about working towards this.In my spare time I enjoy travelling, I love seeing a new country and culture. I'm also a runner and lover of nature. My main priorities are my family and my friends! Our differences are our strengths ~
