The Youth Policy Institute transforms Los Angeles neighborhoods using a holistic approach to reduce poverty by ensuring families have access to high quality schools, wrap-around education and technology services, enabling a successful transition from cradle to college and career.As a School Social Worker in the Health and Wellness Department, I worked with Maclay Middle School in setting up and implementing the PBIS framework in an effort to improve school climate, including reducing suspension ad expulsion rates. The work that our team is doing is made possible through the School Climate Transformation Grant. It was at this agency that I became trained as a SWIS Facilitator and PBIS Assessment Coordinator. As a SWIS Facilitator, I worked with the 6 schools within our SCTG to set up and implement the SWIS System.

• Appointed Middle School Level PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) Coach. Duties include facilitating meetings and organizing Middle School Level PBIS team in educating staff, students and families about the philosophies of the ideals of PBIS.
