Security Specialist – Continuous Readiness In Information Security ProtocolUnited States Department Of Veterans Affairs Jun 2014 - Sep 2015Baltimore, Maryland AreaContinuous Readiness in Information Security Protection Protocol (CRISP) Surge SupportIn this role I was part of a team assigned to "Operational Infrastructure and Security Protection Support" which is a National / Federal mandate to find and isolate and patch machines that had exploitable security vulnarabilities. And Work with VA staff on Baseline compliance in all Regional Network equipment. Our Primary tools were Nessus and SCCM and a variety of custom tools to send packages and verify that endpoints were patched. Then analyze and report on units that were not able to be patched and advise local teir three and teir two assest of the location and disposition of these units. I was on the Non-Compliance Team whic was roughly 120-270 THOUSAND Units (By AD name) Per Month that had at least one exploitable vulnerability in roughly 40 categories. My Given Assignment was "Attack the Vulns Kenn" Which in a nutshell really means to find every unit that is out of compliance and patch it, if the packages for whatever reason did not meet sensible guidlelines such as Flash / Java / MSIE, or were half Secure Firefox & Chrome or completely Deprecated, Microsoft Office Document Converters, and Legacy versions of Adobe Acrobat and then to fix these and Re-Package a supportable version of this product. Report our Findings and then repeat process. Our baseline compliance at the start of the contract was approximately 2% and we brought on average to the 84-87% range which is unnacceptable but some bugs are lower risk than others -
