As Principal Ecologist, I direct strategic research to inform conservation and land management strategies that are science-based and climate-smart, and that provide multiple benefits for people, ecosystems, and wildlife. Much of my work has focused on the conservation and restoration of riparian and wetland ecosystems in California’s Central Valley and Delta, working with partners to establish science-based conservation objectives, analyze the impacts of habitat restoration and incentive programs, quantify associated co-benefits, and project the multiple benefits and trade-offs of large-scale changes to the landscape. I also provide leadership to strategic planning efforts and the research and training programs based out of our Palomarin Field Station & Conservation Science Center, located in the Point Reyes National Seashore.
