I grew up on Hawai'i Island, commonly called “The Big Island." I can attest that it can take an entire lifetime to discover the island in its entirety. In my 40’s, I’m still discovering places, people, and mo'olelo (stories) that inspire and shape me. The island is diverse and generously offers a lifetime of magical experiences to anyone willing to embrace “aloha,” the pillar of Hawaiian culture.At 17, I ventured to Gainesville, Florida, where I earned both my undergraduate degree and MBA from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). During my 18 years in Florida, I found ‘ohana in lasting friendships and built a home away from home.My real estate career began in South Florida in 2010, where I worked alongside people from all over the world. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience that taught me how to connect with people across cultures and build relationships rooted in trust and understanding. Many of those connections continue to enrich my personal and professional life today.In 2017, I returned to Hawai'i Island to join my mom’s real estate team, Team Nakanishi. Shortly after, I faced a personal challenge: a diagnosis of stage II breast cancer. This journey deepened my gratitude for life and inspired me to give back as a speaker and lobbyist for the American Cancer Society.Community service has always been a priority for me. I’ve served on the Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, chaired Hawaii Island Realtors® Program Committee, collaborated with Vibrant Hawai'i to provide real estate market insights, and supported the Hilo Skate Park Coalition as a member of the events committee. I also organized a fundraiser that provided over 100 pairs of shoes for Pahoa Elementary students affected by the 2018 lava flow and have been a speaker/presenter for the Zonta Club several times. Additionally, I’m a member of the Banyan Drive Redevelopment Agency, working toward sustainable solutions for one of Hilo’s most iconic areas. In 2022, I was honored to be named Hawaii Island Realtors® Realtor® of the Year.Recently, I served as campaign chair for Sue Lee Loy, successfully electing her to represent Hawai'i's District 2 in the State House of Representatives.
