Network Engineer
CurrentBT Network Operations Centre’s teams keep BT’s core network running for its business & consumer customers.As a L4 apprentice it’s a mix of study & operational work, including residential learning and allocated study days.Operational work involved monitoring the network using bespoke Operational Support Systems (OSS), locating faults, investigating & analysing the drops/outages, and troubleshooting the fault. Liaising with customer to decide best fix, this includes sending spares, co-op with customer engineer, or tasking a BT engineer. Remotely logging into the equipment for more information. When required escalate to alternative operational teams. Co-ordinating where engineers are required to attend site to fix a fault. Calling engineers to make sure they are aware of the work required. When no engineers are available escalate to engineering manager for assistance. Assigning & allocating tasks to engineers using Teams/CCNG. The apprenticeship learning included both technical & business-essential skills.
