Reading one โOcean Realmโ magazine after another as a boy sparked my enthusiasm in the oceans and their fauna, now a considerably more knowledgeable Marine Biology Masterโs graduate I am excited to further fuel my understanding of our blue planet. Over the course of my degree, I learned advanced Marine Biology knowledge and associated concepts, which were implemented in supporting various university and field projects. Further developing my in-depth understanding of performing marine surveys, research, and analysis within multidisciplinary teams. I take pride in being a hardworking and personable individual, traits that have enabled me to excel in both commercial and third-sector environments. My commitment to effective communication, organizational prowess, and adaptability ensures timely and precise project delivery.My past experience within Nature Metrics taught me the value of good leadership, learning from the good and the bad. I learned that a good leader communicates well, uplifts colleagues rather than denigrates them, shows gratitude more than ingratitude, takes accountability rather than dishing out responsibility. All of which were instrumental in my success leading a team of 25 lab scientists to sequence up to 6 MiSeqโs per week and deliver 3,500 assays per week. Serving as a line manager allowed me to nurture individual talent, aligning their aspirations with skill development goals. At Nature Metrics, I honed my skills in team leadership, project coordination, product delivery, quality control management, and interpersonal communication.In recent months, I achieved the milestone of becoming a PADI Open Water Diving Instructor, certifying over 20 individuals in Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue, and Enriched Air diving. This experience elevated my teaching abilities, enhanced my adaptability to students' needs, boosted my confidence in public speaking, and deepened my diving knowledge and expertise.Currently, I'm embarking on an exciting new journey as the Marine Research Director at All Out Africa. In this role, I'm leading a dedicated group of volunteers across various marine projects. I couldn't be more thrilled to continue my exploration of the ocean's mysteries in this new capacity!
