I’m a third-year transfer student at the University of North Texas pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. I’m majoring in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry and I’m interested in joining the Forensic Science field in the hopes of becoming a Forensic Scientist. I have always been science oriented, but it wasn’t until my freshman year of high school, when I took my first biology class, that I realized what field of science I wanted to pursue. I had a real appreciation for the structure of the experiments, for learning the makeup of human biology, and gaining an understanding of the microscopic world that lives all around us. Now, I have been enrolled in a variety of biological courses, such as botany, chemistry, and ecology, that have allowed me to expand my knowledge of the field through means of experimentation and research. I attended Drake University in Iowa in 2020, where I double majored in Biology and Health Science. After my freshman year, I decided to apply to study abroad in order to broaden my horizons. As a sophomore, I attended Edinburgh University in Scotland for an academic year, a university well known for its science and medical schools. It was there that I received diverse teachings on how the fields of science and medicine differ between the U.S and the U.K, and this prompted me to make it my personal goal to go back to Edinburgh to pursue my medical degree once I graduated. I transferred to UNT in 2023, where I plan to complete my bachelor’s degree in biology in order to take that next step into continuing my education abroad. Through my experience in attending these different institutions and undergoing different styles of learning, I have gained valuable skills in personal and intercultural communication, adaptability, analytical thinking, detail-orientation, and problem-solving.
