Senior Principal Software EngineerCadence Design Systems Nov 2021 - Oct 2023San Jose, California, UsMember of Clarity engine team• Worked with system experts across multiple teams to design, implement, and maintain the AWR Microwave Office (MWO) and Clarity software integration.• Spearheaded the software development for support of periodic boundary conditions and Floquet ports for infinite phased array simulation in the Clarity engine, driven by customer requests.• Worked with system experts to develop an automated test system for Clarity engine to significantly reduce testing time and improve code quality and stability. Wrote and maintained source code documentation as a developer resource.• Extensive wave port work – voltage and current calculations, mode processing, degenerate mode discrimination improvements, multiple sampling vectors, extended user control over wave port AMR, multiple fixes to improve mode stability across the adaptive mesh refinement process.• Ported and refactored extensive C++ code to rapidly mature Clarity engine’s eigensolver and wave port implementations.• Ported and integrated an SWE library for fast EMI/EMC analysis. Made it cross-platform, created documentation, and worked with product engineers for testing, validation, and enhancements -
Software EngineerAwr Corporation 2011 - Nov 2021El Segundo, California, UsFor 8 years I was one member of the two-person Analyst solver team. I was responsible for debugging and modifying a large existing commercial C++ code base, ultimately with very little oversight. My work touched all parts of the code, completely rewriting areas as required.• New wave port features: Custom extents, internal wave ports, 1D metals on wave ports, ray-tracing to determine local BC conductivity• Modified PML formulation for best performance based on lengthy testing and analysis, added support for material interactions, spherical PML, off-axis PML• Magnetostatic solver work: Implemented the 2D magnetostatic solver. Improved nonlinear solver stability along BH curve in both 2D and 3D with residual averages and direct permeability.• Miscellaneous: Implemented anisotropic material support, mixed order bases, antenna output to MWO, and so on.• Obtained substantial performance improvements with threading, parallelization, optimization, and refactoring.• Ran regular leak-checks and memory safety checks and addressed or assigned any issues.• Created/updated many tests for these features and others, and added multiple test metrics as needed.• Rewrote and updated all solver documentation for both Analyst-MP and MWO/Analyst, including text, images, and examples for all new features. -
Neutron Imaging Research AssistantOak Ridge National Laboratory May 2010 - Aug 2010Oak Ridge, Tn, UsProduced quantitative analysis of wave retention in porous soil samples from neutron images from the spallation neutron source at Oak Ridge National Lab, in collaboration with Dr. Hassina Bilheux.Developed software to visualize 3D samples from stacked 2D tomographic images.Analyzed neutron images of refrigerant spray ejector technology in collaboration with United Technologies Research Center. -
Research AssistantUniversity Of Wisconsin-Madison 2003 - 2010Madison, Wi, UsCompleted my dissertation in the UW Computational Electromagnetics (UWCEM) group and the Nanoelectronics Theory Group (NTG). 5 first-author publications and 9 publications total.Developed a multiphysics numerical analysis tool for conductive media under high-frequency stimulation, using the Ensemble Monte Carlo, finite-difference time-domain, and molecular dynamics methods. Validated published THz time-domain spectroscopy results for conductivity of doped bulk silicon, through numerical analysis.Numerically examined electromagnetic reflection from gainy media, leading to modification of the conventional interpretation of the Fresnel reflection laws.Extended the analytic field propagation total-field/scattered-field method for layered gainy media under total internal reflection, in collaboration with the original author of the technique. -
Teaching InternDelta Program For Integrated Research, Teaching And Learning Aug 2008 - Dec 2008Contributed as co-investigator to the controlled evaluation of conceptual assessment techniques, and assisted in course material development, in the UW-Madison softmore-level solid state electronics course for electrical engineers. Developed and implemented a solid state physics concept inventory.
