Design of data acquisition module using FPGA so as to control the line voltage/ current signals. Synthesis and simulations have been performed using MODELSIM and Xilinx ISE tools using Verilog as the HDL. The module is responsible for calculating the frequency of the generator system so as to maintain the V/f ratio relatively constant over a long period of time. Also designed a sub-module to sense changes in the frequency and to control the large fluctuations. A PWM module has also been developed so as to fire the thyristor gating cards so as to control the power delivered to the grids by the generator. The entire module has been developed in Verilog and has been successfully tested using SPARTAN 6 FPGA from the Xilinx family.
