This role has taught me a lot about time management, advertising, and closing sales. A day in this role consisted of admin work, where I would be organising routes for pickups, contacting prospective customers, and creating and sending invoices. The other half of the role was doing the pickups, where my partner and I would go around and collect Christmas trees in a small tipper truck. This venture had given me so many things to learn from and has overall improved my time management, communication skills and given me a first hand look into what goes into running a business. Through this role I undertook the position of part time yard manager. This was split throughout the week with other yard managers, as I was only working in the weekends. A day in this job consisted of opening up the store, attending customers, operating machinery, ordering stock, and talking to suppliers, answering phone calls, and closing the store. This job has been one of my favourite jobs as a part timer, due to the amount of people skills and great coworkers I had. I am currently still working part time at Auckland Landscape Suppliers when I come home for Uni break. For which I am grateful they give me this option flexibility, as most of the time I am living in Christchurch. Show less
