I was also part of a team that was developing a new product for Philips Personal Care on the boundary of medical and non-medical devices. In this team I contributed by identifying the impact of regulatory requirements and with my chemical expertise. 2018 – 2021At Philips research I led a team to explore new clinical applications for a Philips-developed device navigation technology for minimally invasive medical procedures. And before this, I was part of the team that developed this device navigation technology. 1986 – 2017I worked at Philips Innovation in the broad field of Thin Film Technologies (e.g. Chemical Vapour Deposition) and wet-chemical Coating Technologies for a wide range of applications. My roles included technical specialist, project manager, product/process architect and account management. Applications include optical coatings and functional coatings. I contributed to the development of several thin film and coating processes that were successfully transferred to Philips business.An important focus area in this period was the application of phosphors for solid state lighting applications (LEDs). As project manager I contributed to developing a revolutionary wafer-scale phosphor application processes that was successfully transferred to LED manufacturing in the USA. As specialist I contributed to the Philips team that won the L-Prize (a competition by United States Department of Energy to accelerate the replacement of traditional lamps by more efficient LED lamps). As system architect I was responsible for developing FreeStreet, a new suspension-based street lighting system that became a commercial product.I like to be physically active, so an important part of my free time includes sports like (mountain)biking, hiking and running. And I enjoy traveling, photography (where I am the secretary of Photoclub Debuut) and sustainability.
