Kees Brandenburg is using photographic printing techniques, from the 19th century, in a contemporary way. Techniques used are: carbon printing, photopolymer, monochrome and tri-color casein (zerochrome), gumprinting, salt- and albumenprinting, oil- and bromoil printing, cyanotype and kallitype. Specialized in digital negatives for contact printing. Skills in photoconservation, architecture and panoramaphotograpy.Photography and internet cross-over projects.Kees Brandenburg collaborated with photographer Erwin Olaf. Starting in 2011 Erwin Olaf visited the studio in Middelburg for over 12 years where he and Kees Brandenburg worked on many series of carbon transfer prints for exhibitions. Apart from this collaboration many other photographersand artists found their way to Middelburg.

A research project aiming at finding usable methods to eliminate chromium salts from the practice of photographic pigment processes linke gum- , oil- and carbonprinting. Inspired by the work of Halvor Bjørngård (and others) with ferric salts (http://polychrome.nl/file_download/4).Specialised in carbon printing with diazido-stilbene (DAS) sensitizer as a replacement for dichromates.DAS was the main sensitizer in the legendary Ultrastable carbon process. Experience in full color and monochrome carbonprinting with diazido-stilbene sensitizer.In 2023 a non-toxic photographic process called zerochrome-SbQ was lounched. This was the result of a reseach from Simone Simoncini (It) and Kees Brandenburg.Alternative photoprocesses are photographic printing techniques different from the mainstream photographic practice. These techniques sometimes dating from the beginning of photography are researched and connected with contemporary photographic practice and chemical and physical knowledge. Thus broadening the posibilities of presenting the photographic image in the 'real' world.The zerochrome (zerochrome.org) project is researching non-toxic and ultimately also non fossil energy based photographic printing techniques. Knowledge from other fields is incorporated, like the use of riboflavin, vitamin B as a photographic crosslinking agent coming from the medical realm. Bio Based binders for pigment colloid printing are also researched.

After 8 years I returned at De Vleeshall in 2009 for a complete website redesign. Maintained the webdesign from 2009-2015. Site design was all done in my studio in an excellent collaboration with curator Lorenzo Benedetti and Simon Blaas from the Vleeshal. The Vleeshal archives from 1979 until now were revealed on the website in a large backwards operation. The site uses the excellent Textpattern CMS (textpattern.com).
