During my academic career I focused on project management, lean engineering, and finite element methods. I also developed a strong interest and talent for bio-mimicry, and successfully incorporated bio-inspired designs into several academic projects. Before returning to school, I spent several years as a Flight Engineer for the U.S. Army; there I learned the fundamentals of aviation subsystems and performed exceptionally well in high pressure environments. I also spent time as an undergraduate Calculus Tutor, where I learned how to communicate complex ideas and taught students how to be calm, organized, and academically effective. My friends would describe me as hardworking, competent, and compassionate. My supervisors would describe me as dependable, adaptable, and personable. I thrive in collaborative settings, and am skilled at doing the "prep work" for others to be successful. My current interests are bio-mimicry and light-weighting, but I am open to all employment opportunities. My top priorities are to gain experience, develop new skills, and contribute to the field of engineering in a manner which aligns with my personal ethics.

As a Design Team Lead, I researched and executed design decisions for the team academic capstone project in collaboration with Caterpillar INC.. I used my knowledge of material properties and biomimicry to design a large structural component which was 5% lighter than the base model. My team and I also incorporated opportunity management principles, and transitioned to an off-the-shelf system which could be scaled to suit other haul trucks. During this time, my key responsibilities were as follows: - Designed a structural component for Caterpillar large haul trucks using CAD software. - Performed Finite Element Analysis on structural assembly using ANSYS WorkBench. - Held team design meetings and made executive decisions to incorporate design features. - Used standard decision-making processes to complete product development. - Prepared and delivered design reviews to sponsor and stakeholders throughout development. - Incorporated an innovative design strategy that could be scaled for use in other equipment.

I regularly ensured that all necessary inspections were done within an appropriate amount of time.
