Arts Consulting & Programming:Marling primarily works with emerging and mid-career artists as they stabilize and sustain their creative practice. His focus is in strategic planning, organizational development, and tools for emerging professionals. Cients have included FACT/SF, CounterPulse, Nina Haft & Dancers, Mills College, USF, UC Davis, and CSU East Bay. Since 2013, he has led annual reporting on the health of the dance sector in the Greater Bay Area region, in collaborations with Dancers' Group and SMU Data Arts, supported by the California Arts Council.Marling was Program Director for Dancers' Group from 2006-2012, helping oversee all of the organizations programs and services including fiscal sponsorship, re-granting, and public presenting; as well as mentoring emerging artists and arts administrators. While at Dancers' Group, Marling managed and produced works by artists including Anna Halprin, Patrick Makuakane, Joanna Haigood, Erica Chong Shuch, and Katie Faulkner; and produced events at non-traditional venues such as San Francisco City Hall, Stern Grove Park, and San Francisco Union Square.He has served on the Isadora Duncan Dance Awards committee, panels for the SF Arts Commission and Djerassi Resident Artist Program, the Dance/USA taskforce exploring resources to support emerging arts leaders, and currently serves on the Della Davidson Prize committee.Video Editing & Photography:Event photographer specializing in performance documentation and promotional photography. His portfolio focuses on alternative queer communities, dance and theatre artists, body positivity, and queer pursuits of play. Marling's work has frequently appeared in the SF Chronicle, SF Weekly, Bay Area Reporter, and SF Bay Gaurdian, as well as solo exhibits at CounterPulse Gallery, LoneStar Saloon, and as part of the permanenet collection at SF General Hospital. Marling's short films have been screened at the National Queer Arts Festival, and "Rex Ray: A Portrait," was selected 1st place at the Festival of the Moving Image in 2021.
