Chrysalis Academy is a Department of Education approved private day school for children with autism spectrum disorder. My duties at Chrysalis Academy include working as a classroom aide with students in a 2:1 and 1:1 ratio. I am required to follow applied behavioral analysis level training program, take data on students and perform all duties of a classroom aides.

The Nizhoni Academy, is a pre-college enrichment program designed to prepare Native American High School students to become successful college students. The program is comprised of an annual four-six week academic and residential program held on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. The academy emphasizes rigorous STEM academic instruction, a clear understanding of the demands of college studies, and high academic competency and study skills necessary to be successful student in post-secondary education. I was a summer mentor and tutor to five incoming seniors at the program. I spent the majority of my time being with the students in their college classroom and aided them on homework assignments, quizzes, and exams.

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) winning JBMSHP is an intensive summer mathematics course for underprivileged yet academically talented Arizona high school students. Students who participate in the JBMSHP are enrolled in a vigorous 6 or 8-week summer session where students earn college credit while residing on the ASU Tempe campus. Students who participate in the JBMSHP are assigned 50-60 homework problems nightly, have bi-weekly quizzes, and weekly exams. As a student counselor, my role was directly responsible for group of 5-8 male students, in addition to working with 12 other counselors to oversee all 100 student participants. Students would often feel frustrated or overwhelmed due to the academic requirements of the JBMSHP. I provided encouragement to my students when they were struggling and mentored them in regards to university life.
