I was brought in to start the Office of Inclusion Initiatives and Cultural Competence (IICC), now the Student Center for Social Justice and Identify (SCSJI), which is now the central training hub for the university and community on issues of social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion. I helped Dean of Students navigate a complex reorganization that resulted in the creation of the office. This major reorg required a strategic realignment of all former programs and services. I handled everything from the repurposing of the physical space to onboarding of fellow team members. I designed the curriculum for our trainings and hired and trained team members on how to deploy them. We gave dozens of trainings per semester and increased the visibility of issues of DE&I on campus. I implemented new business processes to increase accountability and oversight in finances and streamline operations. I served as the advisor for several multicultural student orgs and helped them put on some of the largest events on campus while simultaneously expanding our profile in the greater Nashville community.
