Keira De Hoog Email and Phone Number
I am passionate about community building and recently completed the International & Community development course at Deakin University. I have worked remotely with Why Warriors, an organisation that works to improve cross-cultural communication with Indigenous communities in Arnhem Land, Australia. I have also been involved in many communities across Melbourne, including volunteering with the soup vans in Fitzroy, managing book projects that required interviewing refugees, asylum seekers, LGBTI communities and people with mental health conditions. I am a mother of two school age children, and I have helped run playgroups, coordinated a baby gymnastics program, and I am well versed in NDIS and Centrelink issues as a carer of someone navigating this complex system. I am a positive person who is highly organised. My background in editing and publishing. I have worked at the Oxford University Press, in the UK and Wiley, in Melbourne. In Canada I have been involved in a life stories project, interviewing senior Canadians and their families to create family history books. I also create custom children’s books and competently work with Adobe design suite programs to create various publications. I have run many large events that included MC-ing book launches (at Trades Hall and Melbourne University), talking to media (including Jon Faine 774 ABC radio, channel 7 news) social media marketing and fundraising (I am also a board member of Positive Aid, a local NGO that supports HIV/ health literacy in Kenya).I am currently keen to find a local and flexible role whereby I can be involved in interacting regularly with a community, completing admin tasks punctually, designing/ planning and helping to implement programs, scheduling, and coordinating staff or volunteers when needed. It would bring me great pleasure to create spaces where people are comfortable and happy, so they can thrive.
