Growing up in a low-income, multicultural household, I understood what it felt like to be “different” at a young age. My adolescent experiences led me to strive for acceptance from others, which resulted in me investing time and energy in everything but myself. Unfortunately, the world we live in requires individuals to look out for themselves before looking out for others. The moment I realized this, at my lowest point in life, was the moment I decided to invest in myself. This decision has proven to me that change is possible, and I plan to use those investments in myself to change the world. I strive to live in an environment where prioritizing and investing in others doesn’t come at the cost of investing in yourself. The skills I’ve acquired over the past six months are essential to put myself in a position where I can make that change, both in the tech field and in the world.
