Ultimately the investments could not be found and the company was put into administration during this period my role changed to provide information to the administrators with a view to selling the business. A consortium did take over the company but they could not find the money to invest in the IT and stock to allow the company to compete in the market place.Key roles over the time included:• Implementation of new management accounting system• Production of monthly management accounts for the board • Debtors collection from the major mobile phone operators• Company payroll for over 300 staff with commissions and store bonuses• Cashflow control• Planning and forecasting for company store by store and globally.• Liasiing with internal auditors over stock in stores and valuations etc• Control of annual audit, liaising with PKF in all aspects up to sign off• Management of team responsible for creditor ledger, branch bankings and other stores management.• Put in place controls to recognise non cash sales and loan repayments typical with the industry at the time (loan repayments by contract sales volumes)Other achievements• Investigation and ultimately negotiations with HMRC for a £120,000 VAT refund in relationship to past overstated VAT returns by previous financial controller.• Part automation of income stream approx. 8,000 transactions per month into our database where previously all hand keyed, freeing up 1 full time job to be allocated elsewhere in the business.• Dealing with administration with all financial information required allowing them to keep hold of a significant property which had a charge held over it.
