I have just completed the second generation change out programme in the pot rooms, replacing all 360 pots to new AP40, I was involved in monitoring the old AP37 pots to keep them operating as the change out programme progressed, monitoring iron and silicon levels, stopping pots before tapping out, the results were fantastic against the plan of expected failures, I am currently assisting in reduction getting ironing levels and multiple anode effects down to good standards. When our new quality control system is organised I will take up a role in auditing the workforce making sure standards are maintained to the highest levels to allow amperage creep up to over 380ka.

I was employed at the Lynemouth smelter for very close to 30 years, i was in Reduction all of this time, starting in operations, learning every skill there was to learn including start up and aftercare, in 1996 i was given the role of accredited instructor learning new employee's the company work procedures and refreshing exsisting operators to make sure they were still up to the required standard. i then was promoted to Team Leader in 2002 responsible for 34 operators organising the teams to work safely and to meet the daily targets set out. i then was involved in process, learning the techinical side of pot operation, dealing with problem pots and changing parameters, i then joined the pot preperation team preparing pots for turnaround. i finished off going on secondment to the Lochaber smelter in Scotland, rolling out a training package for the accredited instructors introducing them with Lean and standardised work methods. I enjoyed my time at Lynemouth working with a fantastic team of operators and gaining valuable experience.
