I have been in the technical staffing industry for nearly three decades. Currently, I direct our technical staffing division which supports several organizations in a variety of industries managing contingent employees and assisting clients with their growth endeavors. I have learned a good deal in this industry. The adage that Rome wasn’t built in a day holds true with every aspect of recruitment and customer support. I am a believer that gaining a full understanding of the client is critical; otherwise no real level of support can be attained. If you don’t know the company’s products, competitors, end users, industry trends, cultures as well as several other features that define it, you cannot claim to understand its needs. Knowing what impedes an organization as well as what makes them successful goes a long way. Once this knowledge is acquired, it should be clear you are there to offer long term solutions…not just Band-Aids. This is especially critical with our market along with the challenges that employers haven’t seen in years. From ultra-low unemployment to talent shortages, recruiting has an array of obstacles. However, homework and relation building cannot be forgotten. Those that do will go by the way side when current conditions change. In short, I am thankful to lead a team that gets it!
