After 12 years experience in Singapore and 16 in Asia working as a wealth manager and financial advisor I witness on the front line, the huge shortage of retirement wealth and income provision within the expat community. Corporates do not have the infrastructure necessary to adequately provide pension provision for their international employees and partners. The Singapore government, through the CPF, do what every government should do, look after their own. When we leave home for a life offshore we do so for career progression and quality of life but I just can’t stress how important active planning is to extend that quality of life into the tomorrow.Years tick by terrifyingly quickly and the life we enjoy in Singapore and Asia means we are often in no rush to leave.
