I developed communication, marketing, event and leadership skills while managing News Talk radio station AM800 CKLW. That included creating and managing the AM800 brand while encouraging the growth, creativity and recognition of 40 union and non-union employees. I developed news and current affairs programming at the local, regional and national levels. I maintained government compliance, managed budgets, monitored systems and initiated policies and procedures. I also established relationships with business leaders, community advocates, politicians and newsmakers while excelling in social situations.

I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of this Oldies-based station, including staff, scheduling, music, news, marketing, contesting and compliance.

I developed and managed the local communications strategy with the Host Organizing Committee while collaborating on the national level with the Canadian Hockey League. I reviewed communications strategies and provided media response lines to Host Committee Chair and senior committee members. Working in partnership with local and national media outlets I ensured coverage requirements were met. In addition I wrote news releases, commercial scripts and digital content announcing key events, initiatives and results while organizing, staging and scripting numerous news conferences. I recruited and trained a team of volunteers who collectively designed, built and operated a Media Centre described by the Canadian Hockey League as “their best ever at at Mastercard Memorial Cup”.

Media Committee Chair for the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge staged in Windsor Essex. I developed and successfully executed the event's Communications Strategy in conjunction with Hockey Canada, I also led the team that created numerous media centres in a variety of local arenas and generated local, national and international news coverage. Strategic planning, crisis management, leadership and negotiation skills were utilized.
