T&D Linear Asset Engineering was a move to a asset management organization and less of a design position for underground transmission. Accomplishments:Developed an asset class strategy for distribution cable. The purpose of the asset class document is to inform upper management on the current state of the asset and provide strategies on how to improve reliability, data collection, and failures analysis.Worked with cable and cable accessories vendors on new products, on field issues, and factory testing.Performed factory audits of cable and cable accessory manufacturers.Performed complex engineering calculations. Perform field testing on HPFF cable system(DGA and online PD) to help develop a condition assessment and health of the system. Updated and developed new standards for distribution and transmission underground cable and cable accessories. Supported the field crews on cable and UG issues. Collaborating on development a wildlife strategy for under grounding overhead distribution line. The work includes reviewing new excavation technology, new cable technology, standards, and risk.

During my time in the Center of Excellence of Underground Cable, my area of responsibility was underground transmission cable. Managed and supported multiple transmission and sub-transmission (66kV & 500kV) underground projects. The support included technical recommendations, developing scope, infield support, collaborate with contractors, and reviewing technical package at multiple stage along the project.Accomplishments:Led a feasibility study and 30% underground design for an 8 mile 220kV underground project. Collaborated to develop a 100% customer 220kV underground design which included; cable speciation, civil specifications, and bidder selection.Managed multiple jack and bore and horizontal directional drill designs.Procured and supported installation of temporary cable leads in a substation. First installation of enamel coated conductor in Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) electrical system.Provided subject matter expertise to support transmission estimators, EPC projects, field crews, and proposed projects.Collaborated with manufacturers on projects, pilots, and to address product issues and concerns.Supported field crews on issues in the field (e.g. cable and accessory failures, training, manufacturing issues, and introducing new materials and products).Performed ampacity modeling, charging current calculations, and pull calculations.Oversaw high voltage cable and cable accessory factory testing. Reviewed factory acceptance testing reports to ensure that manufacturers are meeting SCE’s specifications and requirements.Performed factory audits of cable and cable accessory manufacturers.

As a substitute teacher I'm teaching students new subjects, all while maintaining a productive and professional environment. Since starting in September I have taught Math, Science, Language Arts, Spanish, and French. I'm very honored to have been apart of young students lives and making a difference in their education.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. The program places special emphasis on growing writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills. I mentor and tutor students twice to three time a week. With my electrical engineering degree I have the unique opportunity to apply my skills in both math and science to helping the students with there studies. I'm very honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of this program.
