I have been heavily involved in sales and fundraising but specialize in development. Acquired by Goldfish Ads in early 2019.Developed proprietary web crawlers/scrapers that extract information about events from target websites. The web scrapers utilize clustering and other pattern matching techniques to extract the target data without prior knowledge of the website's structure. Then, the data is parsed and categorized using natural language processing and various classifiers. Finally, the event is passed through a geocoding service to estimate the region where the event is taking place. Each stage of the pipeline is containerized and runs on a job queue, so long-running processes can be scaled independently of other stages. The infrastructure is hosted on AWS.Before focusing on web scraping, we developed a mobile app that pushes helpful content to users depending on their location and the current time. The backend is a Rails API that handles the geographic computations to determine whether a user is within a valid area (point & radius/polygon) to receive specific information. The API utilizes several “Geo-temporal” caching algorithms to handle high traffic areas. CI/CD pipeline with tests achieving >95% code coverage is used to deploy API to AWS.The inherited front-end was re-written by myself and an intern using the React-Native and Redux Frameworks. Project requirements were developed through conversations with the internal team, customers, and beta users. React-Redux best practices were followed during development, and the total timeline was about 30 days before the first production release. -
