Sometimes, when things feel like they are falling apart, they are in fact falling into place!This was the case for me following a sight loss diagnosis. Little did I know the diagnosis and challenges that followed were to put me on a new and different career path, where my qualifications, career experience and the experience of a sight loss diagnosis, would come together to steer me into a leadership role in the charity sector.I now work with the most committed team, supporting blind and partially sighted people who live in Warwickshire, a role that defines and makes sense of my professional career.

Reporting to the Head of Transformation & Major Projects and the Head of ICT Strategy, I lead a team of project managers and business analysts, with responsibility for planning and coordinating resources to deliver a portfolio of projects which underpin service strategies and the transformation aspirations of Coventry City Council. I am engaged in all project life cycle stages, from authoring or evaluating new business cases to realisation of benefits for projects that have been closed. At a practical level, this includes ensuring:- projects are adequately resourced and planned;- stakeholders are engaged and updated throughout the life of a project;- risks are identified and managed;- interdependencies of related projects are identified and managed;- budgets are managed within tolerances;- benefits are tracked and realised; I strive to improve the quality of project management and have been able to develop new systems and processes derived from Prince2 that have been adopted in the organisation.
