I’m a core member of the VIP I/T database developer group which is responsible for creating, maintaining, and deploying backend Oracle database PL/SQL code for the purpose of compensating ACN IBOs (Individual Business Owners) in 28 countries. As a senior-level developer, I participate in compensation plan requirements review sessions with senior management and business partners to clarify business needs for new projects. Once requirements are reviewed, I provide LOE estimates in MS Excel for project delivery managers. I attend daily scrum meetings to communicate accomplishments and roadblocks. I create a development approach document in MS Word and supplement with data flow diagrams (using MS Visio) as necessary to clarify the design. I create and modify PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, DDL scripts, and DML scripts using Toad and SQL Developer, and complete thorough unit testing and performance tuning before turnover to the QA team. Finally, I attend weekly change control meetings to ensure code is implemented successfully, followed by post deployment spot checking of the data in our production database to get ahead of any potential issues.In addition to software development duties, I continue to participate in a monthly support / on-call rotation of developers to monitor system processes during the evenings and weekends. I lead a weekly meeting to discuss production support issues. As new developers join the team and our support rotation, I’m the primary person responsible for training them on our system monitoring process.

After my contract ended in the Finance Dept, I joined the ACN I/T Dept as a database developer to provide additional support for the backend compensation system written primarily with Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and packages. It was my responsibility to become familiar with the sequence and functionality of over 100 jobs that executed daily as part of a Windows batch process. I studied the layout of several core tables and views across various schemas which housed the related compensation data. As a new member of the development team, I forged good working relationships with fellow developers, QA, and management staff. I quickly gained the trust of my team members as I demonstrated the ability to deploy defect-free code despite the fast paced working environment.After working hard to learn many key areas of this compensation system, I quickly gained the business knowledge to become a valuable member of the development team. This resulted in the promotion to a senior level position in 2015.

In 2009, I relocated from Austin, TX to the Charlotte metro region, and began working at ACN in the Finance Dept. as an Oracle consultant through Signature Consultants. I was tasked with converting an existing Accounts Receivable reconciliation process which required 2 hours daily of an experienced AR analyst’s time to manually download files, import data into a MS Access database, clean up and transform the data according to business rules, and reconcile the transactional data against bank statement data for the purpose of posting AR journal entries. In order to convert this cumbersome process into a more sustainable and robust Oracle backed system, I initially worked with business analysts to understand the existing business logic and data flow. Next, I created a conceptual design of the new system along with a data model of the new Oracle database staging, transactional, and rules tables. I was able to collaborate with I/T staff to establish automated FTP jobs for transferring daily files, and SQL Loader jobs to load the data into Oracle staging tables. I wrote PL/SQL packages and triggers to process the staged data according to business rules and log data errors, and I created reports for business users to review daily data discrepancy issues. The entire job execution process was automated and ran daily in only a few minutes.
