I am an environmental consultant with over 30 years of consulting experience after working in environmental research. For 20 years I was an actively practicing Ohio Voluntary Action Program (VAP) Certified Professional. During my career, I have authored 25 No Further Action (NFA) Letters and was the Certified Professional of 13 of the NFA Letters. The VAP has issued the Covenant Not to Sue for all of these properties. Notable among these are the Stearns and Foster factory in Lockland, Ohio, the Kahn's/Sara Lee plant in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Peter's Cartridge complex, a former Superfund site in Kings Mill, Ohio.My experience also includes managing the investigation and remediation of several Superfund, RCRA TSD, brownfield, and underground storage tank (UST) sites. One RCRA TSD site was remediated and redeveloped as Riverwalk in Rock Hill, South Carolina under my management. Riverwalk, won the 2013 Brownfield Renewal award for the best project in the Environmental Impact category. Was also nominated for Brownfield Renewal's Person of the Year. Currently managing the Sheboygan River and Harbor Superfund Site in Wisconsin and the closure of a RCRA Landfill in Cleveland.My approach is to find solutions that minimize remediation and use my in-depth knowledge of the regulations, modeling, and risk assessment to reduce remedial costs. By partnering with the regulators, using this approach has led to significantly reducing remedial costs in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, South Carolina, and California. At the Riverwalk project, this approach reduced the remedial cost from the RCRA estimate of $50,000,000 to an actual cost of $3,000,000. This has led to over $750,000,000 in redevelopment and will generate much more.
