Essentially this entailed;• Service Availability: ensure global platforms and services were available 24x7x365 thru the design and implementation of fully redundant systems and support infrastructure.• Infrastructure Security & Compliance: Ensure our systems and data were protected from unauthorised access and remained in full compliance thru the rigid implementation of internal/external audits that complied with industry standards such and SAS70 and PCI/DSS. This also included regular 3rd party vulnerability tests and comprehensive monitoring for Phishing and take-down service attempts.• Service Capacity: Ensure our services were to cope with current and future business growth through the creation of a comprehensive capacity plan strategy (using applications such as Mercury Loadrunner).

    In April 2000, First Ecommerce Data Services (FEDS) was created as a joint venture by The Bank of Bermuda and FirstEcom.com as a provider of third-party, multi-currency (like-to-like / like-to-unlike authorisation and settlement), bank card processing services. I was appointed Chief Technology Officer of FEDS which was responsible for strategic IT / Infrastructure build out and operations and data centers in Bermuda and Hong Kong. FEDS was subsequently acquired by the Transworld Payment Solutions group in 2001.

    In 1999 completed the implementation of a complete suite of Oasis’ IST applications as part of an initiative to provide multi-currency (third-party) transaction processing services. These systems were geared towards the emerging Internet ecommerce industry and the platform offered unique cross-currency authorisation, clearing and settlement capabilities. This ‘cutting-edge’ project required a great deal of groundbreaking work both with software vendors and the Card Associations. It included full ecommerce certification with VISA’s BASEI and BASEII systems MasterCard’s Banknet and INET systems. In parallel I was managing the complete migration of the bank’s ATM, POS and Telephone Banking services from it’s legacy BASE24 system to the replacement Oasis platform as part of the Y2K upgrade.Re-joined Bank of Bermuda in January, 1994 as Project Manager, Retail-EFT systems group. My team was responsible for the development and ongoing support of the systems that supported the bank’s front-end retail electronic banking products (ATM, POS and Telephone Banking). Responsibilities included project scheduling/co-ordination with all users and software vendors. Staff interviews, appraisals and annual budgeting. Projects completed include: implementation of Base24 POS acquirer/issuer debit/credit OLTP switch. Design and implementation of Telephone Banking (VRU/IVR) System. Implementation of Stratus XA/R5 hardware to replace legacy IBM hardware. Implementation and certification of various external/internal application interfaces (including ISO 8583 & ANSI X9.2 over tcp/ip, 3270, 3780, Poll_Select/TC500) to various processors including VISA, MasterCard, EDS and FDR. Promoted to Senior Project Manager, 1997.

    Was head-hunted and joined ANB to spearhead a large project comprising of the implementation of a regional point-of-sale (POS) switch which was the first of its kind in the region. I was the team leader on the technical side with responsibility for the installation and certification of the ACI BASE24/POS application with the regional hub switch. Included certification of various external interfaces using tcp/ip under ISO 8583 message interfaces between Visa, other Member Banks and the Saudi Monetary Authority. Completed certification to VISANET/PLUS networks and installation of real-time account balance interface with the bank’s mainframe host (VAX running Kindle Bankmaster). Platform: IBM System 88 (Stratus) Model-92 which also supported 150 NCR 4th generation ATMs.
