I have worked (amongst other things) as a library assistant, a box officer, an usher and barista at an independent cinema, as a retail assistant in several busy high street stores (including HMV, WHSmiths, and others), as a chicken cook at a McDonald’s, as a bartender at a rock venue, and as a research assistant. During my studies, I was a Student Representative for all three years of my undergraduate degree, and I was nominated for a Rep of the Year prize. At the end of my second year, I was awarded the Student of the Year prize by my school. As a postgraduate, I co-authored a paper based on my original research. This paper was published in the proceedings of the EvoLang Conference, 2020.I achieved some success as a musician in a Sheffield-based band. During our career, we performed live on BBC 6Music on two occasions and released two singles and an album. I was the band’s promoter-manager, and I arranged all of our rehearsals, gigs, and tours. I am very interested in film and I regularly visit my local multiplexes and independent cinemas. I enjoy watching classic and contemporary Hollywood films, American indies, and films from different non-English cultures. To keep fit, I like to run and swim (though I’m not especially good at either of these things!)
