In my current position I am responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a mine site that provides 1.3 million tons of aggregate/year. Our success is largely in part of being not only able to recognize the need to build bench strength in our plants but implement practices that develops talent. Managing in today’s environment requires creating an atmosphere that retains employees. We have had record low turnover during a time when opportunities are vast. This has been achieved by creating a cultural that values the opinions of all employees. Implementation of process improvements in our plant has allowed us to target specific sizes allowing us to meet high demands of sought after products. With a strong vision of pit development, we have been able to open our mine site that allows access to multiple benches. This has allowed us to increase our reserves by utilizing blending tactics that increase our recovery ratios.
