Team lead for the Iris Payroll Business Desktop application team, which was made up of three other developers and two QA engineers. I was responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality work within tight deadlines for our desktop product. Our legislative application was a combination of VB6 and C# (vb6 code is replaced by C# as needed but all new features are in C#). This role was quite varied as I was always working on side projects on a wide range of technologies within the wider team. Azure played a big part for the other product I was responsible for, the Remote timesheet Entry. This was a Asp.net API system on Azure framework to allow all our desktop products the ability to manage payroll time sheets remotely\off site. Included the ever growing MVC Asp.Net web admin portal to manage and support customers which I developed my self for support to help diagnose and fix customer issues (and as an aid to development). As a team lead, I was responsible for ensuring the team function efficiently by creating and enforcing procedures such as codes reviews with pull requests and introducing Agile methodology to my team and brought in GIT to replace TFS to allow better integration. I had regular 1-2-1 meetings and quarterly reviews. Keeping on top of time logging and providing regular updates to my stake holders as well as implementing corporate and management process changes. I worked with each member of my team with setting and managing the objectives as well as identifying area for improvement and providing a strategy to improve including arranging training courses\workshops (some of which I created and delivered myself). I also had at least 1 junior developer I was mentoring during my time at Iris from right across the wider team, which was always something I was more than happy to do.

Part of a team of programmers, my responsibility is to design \ develop and release extra screens\tools and re-usable components, all of which communicate with Java Web services\Sybase+DB2\IBM MQ.\SQL Server. Worked on the new trading system, developed in c# with Java (JXB) service, and was responsible to replace and enhance functionality that existed on the legacy system but had not yet been developed in the new one.2003-2008Worked in a team of 3, which about 2 years later became the team leader, this team was setup to help with support and development of a suite of trading applications and reports used by the traders, developed using mainly C# and Java, but had to use also VB.net\Asp.net Perl\VB6\C++\MS Access\Excel(=VBA)\HTML.. During my time in this area, I worked on a 2 year project (on and off due to commitment to team and critical enhancements and fixes to existing systems) redeveloping the Tax Credit system due to new enhancements that could not be made due to the system being fragmented through various departments\databases and frontends. This was a full development from design\development to implementation with. This was developed with heavy OO Perl+Sybase back end and with a Java (JXB) Middle Tier and C# and ASP.net front end. 2008-2009 – Seconded to Merrill Lynch 6 Month ProjectI was brought in to help a team of developer’s finish of the new Basket Manager system on time, while assisting with the support issues of the legacy system.
