Keith Haskell work experience

A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.

Scientist, Cell Design Studio

St. Louis, Mo

• Generate genome edited cell lines using CRISPR-Cas9 and viral transduction. • Experienced in the evaluation of cell lines using molecular biology techniques such as PCR and qRT-PCR Taqman analysis. In addition to using the analysis tools, IGV and OutKnocker to evaluate NGS data. • Support flow cytometry needs for cell line development. Proficient in using FlowJo software for the analysis of flow data and its presentation to colleagues. • Provide customer updates and summary reports for cell lines generated.

Mar 2017 - Oct 2022

Scientist, Primary Pharmacology Group

Groton, Ct

• Responsible for the generation of genome edited human ESC and iPS cell lines using CRISPR-Cas9, Zinc Finger Nuclease, and TALEN technologies. • Developed an improved process flow to incorporate cell sorting into cell line development resulting in a significant reduction in the time in takes to generate a line. • Performed flow cytometry and qRT-PCR Taqman analysis to ensure the quality of the stem cell line generated.• Supported flow cytometry needs for any cell line development. Proficient in using FlowJo software for the analysis of flow data and its presentation to colleagues.

Aug 2012 - Jan 2017

Scientist, Genetically Modified Models Group

Groton, Ct

• Screened RNAi libraries in differentiating human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC) to identify potentially novel drug targets for osteoporosis, obesity, and cancer. • Developed a robust method for the expansion of human adipose stem cells (hASC) for the creation of working stocks and transferred technology to reagent provision group for distribution. • Partnered with research units for the screening of hMSCs and hASCs to identify optimal donor lots for in vitro models. • Developed a protocol to differentiate mast cells from human CD34+ bone marrow stem cells as a drug safety in vitro model. QC of lots by measuring histamine release by ELISA and detection of surface markers by flow cytometry. Screened compounds in this model to address drug safety.• Scaled up the production of pancreatic endocrine progenitors derived from hESCs in 6 well plates to spinner flasks. • Devised a mouse ES derived adipocyte differentiation protocol to be used as a model to predict the in vivo model prior to delivery. • Generated genetically modified mouse ESC lines along with contributions and improvements to the lab’s SOPs.

Aug 2002 - Aug 2012

Associate Scientist, Biologicals Development Group

Groton, Ct

• Developed and improved processes for the generation of viral and parasitic antigens for veterinary vaccine formulations in a GLP and GMP setting. • Generated large scale cell culture systems such as spinner flasks, roller bottles, cell factories, and stirred bioreactors (10L, 50L, and 100L). • Managed the setup, monitoring, and cleaning up of bioreactors between batches. • Regular communication with Discovery and Manufacturing for effective process transfer.

Jan 2000 - Aug 2002

Biochemist Ii, Cell Culture Media Development Group

St. Louis, Mo

• Developed and optimized serum-free (SF) and protein-free (PF) media for cell lines used in vaccine and protein production. • Generated optimal media formulations and culture conditions for the following cell lines; MDCK, MDBK, chick embryo fibroblast, Wi38 fibroblast, hybridomas, and CHO. • Tested media formulations in hollow fiber and stirred bioreactors. • Provided support for customers, technical services, QC, QA, and production.

Sep 1995 - Jan 2000

Organic Chemist I, Bio-Organics Group
