Hortigro Ltd is an importer and retailer of solid and foliar (mainly for Hort) fertiliser products and operates with two divisions, Landco Fertiliser (Ag) and Hortigro (Hort/Row Crops). We specialise in managing soil nutrients and match fertiliser recommendations with an array of products bespokely blended in our custom blending facility in Pukekohe.My responsibilities cover, direction, planning, implementation, processes, systems, and growth. In addition the role includes many other day to day functions that are included within a small business enterprise of 15 people, Hierarchical systems are not a consideration. The great thing with a small businesses is that decisions can be made much more quickly than a large business and this provides a competitive edge. In addition size allows for a constant and thorough ability to tweak what we do, and how we do it, again this provides considerable advantage over others. Commencing as General Manager I was responsible for implementing the majority of the processes, systems, and team to build the company and its business. This was achieved with the support of great staff (a small team) and great customers that saw and experienced the benefits of the products the company imported and wholesaled.
