As Head of Policy and Insights I lead a team of experts across WRAPs areas of interest to support policy makers around the world with insights which inform the development and implementation of policy. I focus on short to mid-term strategies to deliver WRAPs vision and strategy, developing new processes, initiatives and operational plans.

My role is to build and manage WRAP’s relationship with key Government departments and to be accountable to Government funders for the delivery of WRAP programmes. I lead a core team of specialists that provide expertise and advice into Government departments on a range of policy issues, ensuring that WRAP is at the forefront in our key areas of expertise including food waste, resource management and new business models.

I provide leadership on environmental research in WRAP and am the focal point for technical expertise on life cycle thinking for all WRAP teams. I ensure WRAP stays at the cutting edge of new developments, and so providing expert advice internally and externally contributing to the delivery of WRAP’s work and forward strategy.

I design, lead and deliver the WRAPs programme of work to deliver the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP) across the life cycle of clothing. This includes developing the programme strategy, planning, designing, developing and delivering programmes against the determined strategy; leading and developing a highly effective team to deliver agreed outcomes and managing the programme budgets – planning, forecasting, monitor of spend and reporting.

I design, lead and deliver the WRAPs programme of work with the textile supply chain to deliver the targets of the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP). This includes contributing to the development of the programme strategy, planning, designing, developing and delivering the programme against the determined strategy; leading and developing a highly effective team to deliver agreed outcomes and managing the programme budgets – planning, forecasting, monitor of spend and reporting.

The International Life Cycle Board (ILCB) is the governing body of the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative. The ILCB decides on the work plan and carries out the supervision of all work elements. I ensured there was clarity on the end of the third phase of activity and was involved planning for the fourth phase. This included development of a new engagement and delivery model.

In my role, I ensure that we consider the wider environmental impacts of our projects and seek optimum environmental solutions.I provide strategic input into the development of WRAP commissioned programmes and research projects and provide follow-through advice, in particular on climate change and resource efficiency.This also allows me to input to the evaluation, quantification and interpretation of environmental aspects of programmes and projects developed by WRAP.I have developed and managed several successful projects, including Meeting the UK Climate Challenge: The Contribution of Resource Efficiency, I have also written or contributed to numerous publications, including the Scottish Carbon Metric for recycling for the Scottish Government and an evidence summary in support of the waste hierarchy in England and co-authored the Carbon and Water Footprint of Food Waste with Ashok Chapagain at WWF.
