In my role as Group Head of Medical and Quality, I oversee clincal governance for the group, responsible for managing clinical quality, patient safety efforts, clinical audits, risk management and value based healthcare. I am responsible for defining consistent standards for medical care, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations and developing clinical strategies, to the ensure the company mets its long term clinical goals. I supervise and collaborate with the Country Heads of Medical and Quality to provide quality control and assurance of clinical quality and patient safety in order to ensure that patients recieve the highest standard of medical care.

My present role is in teaching classes in patient communication, clinical examination, medical simulation and collaborative class learning, where basic science concepts are taught using clinical scenarios. I also serve as a clinical examiner and assessor for medical school interviews. I have previously been involved in curriculumn development for oncology, global health and interprofessional education.

As director of Clinical Outcomes, Performance and Value, Healthcare Performance Group, Ministry of Health, Singapore, I led a division which was responsible for ensuring that the Singapore healthcare system was providing high quality clinical care to the people of Singapore. My role involved regular review of the clinical performance of the 3 healthcare clusters in Singapore, identifying areas of best practice and gaps that needed to be addressed. I was also responsible for implementing Value Based Healthcare in Singapore in order to ensure that quality of care was improved and cost rationalised. I worked closely with colleagues in healhtcare finance and clinical data analytics to shape the development of healthcare policy, monitor the outcomes of policy decisions and derive actionable insights to improve healthcare outcomes,

As Chair of the National Value Healthcare Workgroup, I work with the team from Ministry of Health Singapore to help implement value drive care in all the hospitals in Singapore. Our workgroup decides which conditions to measure, the definition of success for each condition and also the cost of care nationally. The workgroup has developed national dashboards and regularly updates senior leaders from the government and the hospitals on the performance of the healthcare teams in order to drive change and improve the value of care delivered to patients. It facilitates best practice sharing among the different health care providers in Singapore and is working towards a common cost reporting systems among the different hospitals in Singapore.

I was one of the first 2 Singaporeans to be conferred Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the RANZCR. Since then I have been a specialist at the Department of Radiation Oncology, NUH. I had the privileged running numerous clinical and research programs and of holding numerous leadership positions in the department since early in my career such as Program Directorand have been recognized for this by numerous fast track promotions resulting in my being one of the youngest doctors to be promoted to the rank of Senior Consultant in NUH. My sub specialty interest are in Genitourinary cancer, in particular prostate cancer as well as cancers of the central nervous system. In 2009 I pioneered the use of CT guided high dose rate prostate brachytherapy in South East Asia and since then NUH has been one of the leading centers of excellence for this treatment in South East Asia with numerous publications and doctors seeking training with us. Aside from clinical, adminstrative and education work, I have also a interest in research being awarded numerous research grants including 2 National Medical Research Grants as Principle Investigator and 1 as Co-Investigator, amounting to nearly 2 million dollars in grant funding. My research work has been cited hundreds of times and I have been invited to speak at numerous overseas meetings

South West, Singapore

I presently lead the Value Driver Care Program for the National University Health System Cluster, which covers National University Hospital, Ng Teng Fong Hospital, Jurong Community Hospital and the National University Polyclinics. The goal of the VDC program is to monitor the quality of care that we are delivering to our patients and what it costs the health care system to do so. Through the use of dashboards, we are able to benchmark hospital and physician performance in order to identify areas of best practice, which are to be shared and waste which we then work to eliminate. Since the launch of the value drive care program, individualized quality measures and cost of care for over 30 medical conditions have been actively tracked and actionable insights derived. This has resulted in an overall improvement in quality of care and stabilization or reduction in cost for these conditions

As Assistant Dean (Education) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, my role is to develop inter-professional education among the students of the 5 health care departments/faculties in NUS. The goal being to develop a workforce ready to meet the challenges faced by health care professionals in the 21st century, The emphasis is on developing teamwork, communication skills and leveraging on technology but at all times putting the patients at the center of all we do. I also lead the Global Health and Leadership Program for the medical students which develops leadership skills and empathy among medical students by training them to develop, plan and successfully run community improvement projects both in Singapore and in our neighboring countries. Aside from the above 2 roles, I am actively involved in teaching medical students as well part of the curriculum implementation and approval committees
